“I can't choose between two bridal gowns! What do I do?”

When you first start wedding dress shopping, it’s normal to think, “Will I ever find the one?” So what do you do when you’ve found two! If you’re in love with both bridal gowns, and they’re both within your budget, it can make for a tough (even heartbreaking!) decision. We’ve had brides at our salon face this very problem! So what’s a modern bride to do?

Figure out which one is more you

A common mistake brides make when choosing their wedding dress is trying to pick one that fits a certain look, and doesn’t necessarily fit them. Do both dresses capture your style and spirit? Or is one much more “you?”

Get outside advice

It goes without saying – grabbing Mom or some close friends to see you in both dresses may help make your decision for you. Just make sure you value their fashion sense and advice and let them know how appreciative you are of their input. Keep in mind, however, that you don't want too many cooks in the kitchen—the more opinions in the room, the more opinions you'll get, which might bring you back to square one.

Take photos

Not just of the dresses, of course–take photos of you in the dresses and pay special attention to how you look and your body language. You might discover in one dress you look much more excited, happy, and at home in: that’s your winner.

Sleep on it

Your wedding dress is a very special and important decision, and the science shows, it really does help to sleep on it.

Think about the overall wedding

Think big picture: depending on the size, location, and style of your overall wedding ceremony or reception might help decide which dress is best. After all, you might look stunning in that princess ball gown style wedding dress, but if you’re celebrating your wedding in an intimate beach ceremony, you’ll look out of place. Which dress best fits your overall style?

Don’t discount your partner

Your wedding dress is about you, but if you really are torn between two perfect dresses, try to think about your soon-to-be spouse. After all, your special day is for both of you! Their jaw will drop in either dress, but determining which one really takes the cake through their eyes might help you decide.
